The story of Ruth has often focused on Boaz, the redeemer for Ruth, who is portrayed as a poor, brittle, Moabite woman. However, what if we read the book of Ruth as a story of how women, such as Ruth and Naomi, do not succumb to the circumstances they are presented with. In fact, they flourish in them. Even confined in the margins of biblical interpretation, we can bring new light and possibly switch the typical narrative of the almighty kinsman redeemer back to the loyal and faithful Ruth and Naomi.
