A remarkable story: The army of Samaria defeated the army of Jerusalem and headed home with piles of loot and 200,000 captives to be sold at auction as slaves. As the victorious army approached home, a prophet scolded them for being overly “victorious.” Samaritan leaders promptly reversed course and sent the captives home. It is an astonishing story of mercy that is still relevant today.
