The Power Paradox, Part 1

As we meet in church for the first time since the pandemic began, Pastor Kevin is starting a new series titled “The Power Paradox.”  The concept of authority and power from a worldly standpoint is opposed to the concept of power and authority as demonstrated by Christ.  In this series, Pastor Kevin will look at controversial passages of scripture that have been misunderstood—passages such as 1 Timothy 2:12, “I do not permit a woman to have authority over a man;” Ephesians 5:22, “Wives, submit to your husbands;” and 1 Corinthians 11:6, “It is a disgrace for a woman to cut her hair.”  Part 1 will look at why circumcision was such a HUGE deal to the early church and how the church came to confront the power differential between Jew and Greek.
