Sermon Synopsis
The church (Christian church at large, and specifically the Adventist church) has played three key roles in society: victim, bystander, and perpetrator. “Othering” could be viewed as the foundation of the three roles and the foundation to all sin. We now bear the cultural-level symptoms of these roles and have been dissociating as a result. The antidote is to cease othering, and instead to endeavor to enter into an I-Thou relationship with people outside our community.
