Citizens

Sermon Synopsis:  Our national documents give voice to exalted ideals—all are created equal, liberty and justice for all, “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.”  Recent events have forced us to confront national failure to actually live out those ideals.  Still, on our national holiday, it is good to remind ourselves of our highest ideals and pledge ourselves to fresh endeavor to live them out.  It is also appropriate for us to give thanks for the privileges we enjoy as citizens of the United States.  Through giving thanks may we be inspired to strengthen resolve to share these blessings as widely as possible.
