A Secret Place
A frequent metaphor for God in the Bible is “Rock.”
The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.
These words evoke visions of stability and security, of grandeur and dignity. In a sun-seared desert landscape, a massive rock offers shade, a place where one can hide from blazing sun and scorching heat. We are invited to make our way to The Rock. Through worship, Bible reading, music, prayer, and meditation we take ourselves into the sheltered place in the lee of the Great Rock. There we find refuge. There we find space to nourish hope, faith, and goodness.
